Krita organizes digital painting around a configurable workspace, brushes and resources. Dockable panels and shortcuts can be arranged for a drawing task, and brush engines expose controls for different kinds of marks. Brush stabilization assists line work. Workspaces can be saved, while brushes and textures can be managed together as resource bundles for later use.
A composition can combine painting, vector, group and filter layers, with selections limiting the region being edited. Vector and text tools support comic panels and lettering. Wraparound mode helps create repeating textures by displaying the image as a continuous pattern. Color management includes ICC and OpenColorIO workflows, and the feature page also describes EXR image support.
Krita also has a workspace for frame animation. A timeline arranges drawings, onion skins show neighboring frames, and audio and frame rate settings help organize the sequence. Finished work can be exported as video or individual images. PSD loading and saving provide another route for exchanging image documents alongside the painting and animation tools already built into the application.
