LibreOffice
An office suite for working with text documents, spreadsheets and presentations on a computer.
About this project
LibreOffice is an office suite whose applications handle different kinds of working documents. Writer is used for writing and laying out text, Calc works with spreadsheet data and charts, and Impress builds presentations. Together these provide separate environments for developing written material, analyzing numbers and preparing slides, from everyday notes through longer documents and structured presentations.
The suite also includes Draw, Base and Math. Draw handles diagrams and graphic objects, while Base provides database tables, queries, forms and reports. Math creates formulas through graphical controls or text input. These components give drawings, structured data and mathematical expressions their own editing tools rather than requiring every object to be created as ordinary text.
The official books describe document exchange alongside these editing functions. Writer can open Word documents and export PDF, while Impress can read and write PowerPoint files and produce PDF, HTML or image output. Math formulas can be inserted into Writer, Calc, Draw and Impress documents, then edited with the formula editor as part of those documents.
