About this project

PDFsam Basic is a desktop tool for reorganizing PDF documents at the page level. Separate tasks handle merging, splitting, extracting, rotating and alternately mixing pages. Users choose input documents and page ranges, then produce a reorganized PDF. Its central objects are existing files and their pages, supporting preparation of material that needs to be combined or divided.

Merging can select ranges from each file and configure bookmarks, forms and contents. Splitting can use page counts, odd or even pages, bookmarks or file size conditions. Alternate mixing interleaves pages from multiple inputs and can reverse their order, including when front and back sides of a document have been scanned into separate files before assembly.

Rotation uses common multiples of ninety degrees, and extraction creates a file from selected pages. Processing takes place locally on Windows, macOS or Linux rather than requiring documents to be uploaded for processing. The website separately presents PDFsam Visual and Enhanced. Other operations, such as editing document text, need to be checked against the particular product providing them.
