About this project

Rectangle moves and resizes windows on macOS through keyboard shortcuts and snapping areas. Users can position applications with the keyboard or drag a window toward a screen edge or corner. A placement preview shows the area it will occupy when released. This provides predefined arrangements for working with several application windows on a desktop.

Layouts include halves, maximization, quarters, and thirds, with some repeated shortcuts cycling through sizes. The repository also documents excluding applications when their shortcuts conflict with Rectangle. The resulting window dimensions still depend on restrictions imposed by the application being moved, so a requested layout is not guaranteed to override its minimum size or aspect constraints.

The official site distinguishes Rectangle from Rectangle Pro. Pro adds capabilities such as custom sizes and positions through a separate trial and purchase path. The site lists Intel and Apple Silicon support, while operating-system requirements must be checked against the selected release. Pro features should not be assumed to belong to the standard application.
