About this project

StoryPad organizes diary entries, notes, photos, and memories along one chronological timeline. Entries can contain multiple pages, formatted writing, checklists, and tags; search helps locate earlier content. The official site says basic journaling can work offline with local storage and without creating a StoryPad account.

The developer distributes finished applications through Google Play and the Apple App Store. Optional cloud backups and local exports provide ways to preserve entries. The current 2.33.1 store release adds iCloud and Dropbox backup choices and CSV export. Apple lists iOS and iPadOS 16 or later, and macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon.

StoryPad offers optional one-time purchases rather than a required journaling subscription. Its privacy policy says journal content stays on the device or the user’s backup service, but separately discloses anonymous Firebase usage analytics and crash reports without a current opt-out. This distinction matters when deciding how to store sensitive diary entries and which cloud features to enable.

Decision guide
01

Why it is worth a look

  • Android and Apple app-store packages provide a graphical installation path
  • Core journaling works offline without a StoryPad account
  • Local exports and optional backups help preserve personal entries
02

Before you use it

  • Some premium features require a one-time in-app purchase; the current free-versus-paid split varies across documentation and store release history
  • The privacy policy discloses anonymous Firebase analytics and crash reports and says no opt-out is currently available
  • Optional cloud backups require the selected provider account; keep an independent export of important entries

Who it fits

Good for

Personal journaling and organizing dated notes; A diary that can be used locally before enabling cloud backup

Not a fit

Users requiring an independently audited or telemetry-free diary; Users who need every optional customization feature without payment

Getting started

  1. Install StoryPad from the Android or Apple store linked by storypad.me
  2. Create entries on the local timeline and choose a privacy lock if desired
  3. Export an independent backup; connect a supported cloud account only if cloud backup is wanted
