About this project

Miniflux is a self-hosted feed reader that collects RSS, Atom, and JSON Feed updates in one place. Subscriptions can be added by URL or imported and exported through OPML. Articles can be categorized, bookmarked, and searched. Images, videos, podcasts, and other feed attachments are also supported, bringing updates from multiple sources into a shared reading interface.

For feeds containing only summaries, the application can extract an article from its original page, with rules for customizing fetching and content processing. The interface adapts to mobile browsers and supports keyboard navigation. Integrations can save articles to other tools, while REST, Fever, and Google Reader API compatibility provide access routes for clients supporting those interfaces.

The server is written in Go and can run as a compiled program, with packaged and container options also available. Bundled web assets do not remove its PostgreSQL requirement: the database is a separate dependency. Internal scheduled jobs update subscriptions, after which users read the collected material through a modern browser or compatible client.

Decision guide
01

Why it is worth a look

  • Multiple feed formats and OPML import/export in one application
  • First-party usage or installation documentation is available
  • A verifiable formal release record is available
02

Before you use it

  • Self-hosting requires PostgreSQL; the single executable does not include all dependencies
  • Some full-text extraction depends on the target website structure
  • Third-party saving services and notifications involve additional accounts
