About this project

Memos is a self-hosted application for short notes, daily records, work logs, links, and code snippets. Markdown entries appear on a chronological timeline, without requiring a title, folder structure, or template before saving. Users can capture a thought first and organize or retrieve it later, keeping an ongoing record rather than preparing a formal document for every entry.

Entries can include media and use tags, search, and pins for organization. They can remain private or be selectively shared publicly. The official Chrome and Firefox web clipper saves pages, selections, and images as Markdown with source links. Manually written notes and material collected from websites can therefore appear together in the same timeline.

Container deployment uses persistent data storage, with other installation options documented separately. The stable image follows releases, while canary tracks development builds; releases use a year-and-month format. Upgrades from versions earlier than v0.31.0 must first run v0.31.0 successfully, rather than assuming that any old installation can move directly to the newest image.
