qBittorrent is a BitTorrent client that organizes file transfers using torrents and magnet links. Users can select files within a torrent, set file and task priorities, and manage activity through a queue and bandwidth scheduler. A torrent creator is also included, putting transfer control and the preparation of torrent files within the same application interface.
An extensible search system connects multiple search sources and supports categories. The RSS reader can apply filters to establish subscription based downloading. Searching, receiving subscription items and transferring files are different parts of the workflow: the first two discover or supply tasks, after which the selected torrent and its transfer settings determine how the client handles them.
Alongside its desktop interface, qBittorrent provides a web interface for remote control. Platforms include Windows, Linux, macOS and FreeBSD. The application uses Qt and libtorrent, with protocol features including DHT, peer exchange and local peer discovery. Content found through search sources and the protocol functions of the client consequently belong to different parts of the overall transfer process.
